How many firemen does it take to rescue a cat?
Chicago Tribune Problem Solver (registration required, booooo) lends a hand to save Chiky, stuck 50 feet up a tree. 50 feet! And what a production:
It ends happily, of course, otherwise we wouldn't be telling you about it. Only good cat news here at CatTastic.
Soon, more than a dozen firefighters arrived, including some from Engine 91, Squad 2, Battalion 7. [...] As the temperature dropped, they backed the truck from the alleyway, then raised a bucket holding Urbon and two firefighters. One firefighter carved a path through the branches using a chain saw; the other guided the basket ever closer to the cat.
About 45 minutes into the operation, the crew was close enough to grab Chiky with a snare--a loop at the end of a long pole. Seconds later, the cat wriggled free, fell several branches, then scampered even higher.
It ends happily, of course, otherwise we wouldn't be telling you about it. Only good cat news here at CatTastic.
