Dogs Suckle
Dr. Kimberlee Young of North Bergen, NJ, performed a C-section on a pregnant dog who'd been hit by a car, bringing four pups into the world. After the mother died from her injuries, Dr. Young stepped in to rear them. Meanwhile, Yentl, her champion Birman, had recently delivered a stillborn kitten and was in mourning.
After weeks of too many late-night puppy feedings, Dr. Young had an idea to quell Yentl's maternal yearnings:
Having now found homes for each of the puppies, Dr. Young is apparently looking for a home for Yentl, as well.

"I handed her one of the puppies to see if she was game for it," Young said. "I figured that Yentl had just given birth and I knew she had mother's milk. So I just put the puppy in there to see what happened. Amazingly, she took to the puppy. So I gave her the other three. Yentl took to them as well. She immediately started cleaning them. She was purring. She was so happy."
Having now found homes for each of the puppies, Dr. Young is apparently looking for a home for Yentl, as well.
